Cross Israel Highway

The Cross Israel Highway is the first toll road in Israel. This electronic toll road serves as the principal route of Israel, enabling faster travel between the northern and southern regions of the country.

The Cross Israel Highway was established by the Derech Eretz Highways – Franchise company, which was granted the franchise by the state to construct and operate the highway. The company is jointly owned by three groups known in Israel and throughout the world in the construction, infrastructure and development fields: Shikun Ubinuy, Africa-Israel, and Canadian Highways Infrastructure Corporation, which built and operated Highway 407 – the first electronic toll road in Canada.

To operate this road under the franchise agreement, the Derech Eretz Operator company was established. Alon holds 39% of the company which in turn owns 51% of the operator.
Derech Eretz Operator is responsible for marketing, operating and maintaining the road in order to maintain the highest standards of the road and its systems.

Alon is entitled to operate exclusively four travel centers along the Cross Israel Highway, during the 30 year concession period. These Travel Centers offer customers state-of-the-art filling stations, convenience stores, Segafredo Coffe Shops and a variety of services that adresses their daily needs.
